Independent Living in Rented Apartments
Enjoy your retirement with new friends
Live a Rich Independent Life
The Hawthorns is the springboard to your retirement…
Independent living at The Hawthorns leaves you free to put time back into your life, doing what you enjoy, and not fretting over the administrative burden of bills, property maintenance, cooking, housework and the like. This means that you have time to pursue your interests or even develop new ones, widen your circle of friends, go out on trips, and feel a part of a close knit community with the privacy of your own front door. Having your independence does not mean needing to feel isolated – far from it.
Form friendships around shared interests…
Dedicated staff arrange whatever you would like to do and welcome new ideas and suggestions for activities and outings. You’ll find bridge clubs, Scrabble tournaments, rambling excursions, choirs, Tai-Chi or even wine-tasting. Outside speakers come to give talks and local musicians play their ukuleles or sing songs from the shows. Each location has a grand piano which you are free to play. Some of the most popular evenings are gathering around the piano.
Across our retirement villages, we have recently had book launches, visiting automobile clubs, art expositions, charity gala’s, and there are always groups from the local community pass through our doors.
It’s Hawthorns Living…
All our Hawthorns villages benefit from lovely landscaped gardens where residents often play croquet or bowls, grow flower baskets or just sit and enjoy quiet a shady spot with neighbours. Our bus is an integral part of life, its a regular visitor to the local shops if you prefer not to drive yourself and we also use it to explore local sites of interest. It even drops you off so that you can enjoy country walks, making sure to pick you up at the other end!
Stress and Fancy Free…
Studios and apartments are light, spacious and designed for low maintenance. All are fitted with kitchenettes, ideal for light snacks or refreshments between meals. and either an en-suite bathroom or shower room. They come unfurnished, but with carpets and curtains, although you can replace them with your own if you prefer. We encourage you to put your own stamp on your property and make what is behind your front door your own little castle. Guest rooms are available for visitors to stay.
Meals are served in our dining room three times a day with lunch our main meal of the day. There is always a choice of dishes at each sitting each incorporating a fine selection of fresh, seasonal ingredients and updated weekly by our own chef teams and all table served. It’s quite an operation and we regularly serve over 100 covers in each sitting. It’s a fun, communal occasion with complementary wine to quench everyone’s thirst!
There is a weekly housekeeping service and a sheets and towels laundry service too. All rooms are equipped with an emergency pull cord and access to staff who are at hand round-the-clock to assist you and help you iron out any problems you may have.
