Put Time Back Into Your Retirement Years
“Rented apartments in fine communal settings, all with excellent locations, gardens and fully managed, all-inclusive accommodation, restaurant dining, social events and excursions”.
The Hawthorns is a unique and exciting retirement model that offers retirement properties to rent for couples or individuals who seek a rich, independent lifestyle, at beautiful locations across the country.
Ours is a business that addresses the need of a whole new generation of retirees, people with exacting expectations and clear ideas of what they want to achieve in their retirement years.
Our communities are vibrant and companionable places; we eat together, we play together and we live together. Step outside the privacy of your apartment door and a world of opportunities await you.
Why The Hawthorns?
There are many reasons why people choose to live within a Hawthorns retirement property. For some it is a financial consideration, what we call ‘rightsizing’. For many individuals, or even couples, the costs associated with maintaining a large house and garden in their retirement years are prohibitive and make no sense. Many current retirement developments, have spurious exit fees when properties are sold on or ground rents and maintenance fees that are prohibitive. At The Hawthorns, pricing is totally transparent, allowing residents to budget more effectively in their later years. You could say life is just more manageable the Hawthorns way.
Simplicity then is another reason. Renting all-inclusive retirement properties just makes life easier. It’s as simple as that. Maintenance is taken care of, as are the council tax and utility bills, there is no housework to contend with, no meals to prepare, there is even a laundry on-site for you to use. It’s all taken care of and our all-inclusive rental model is just that, there are no hidden surprises like at many other more traditional retirement villages.
We even provide regular transport to local shops and other amenities, so that residents can shop or maintain a life outside of the Hawthorns, without the worry of driving and parking in town. Whether it is soaking up some local culture, dining or just a spot of shopping, it’s all included and although many residents choose to keep their cars in our free parking bays, for the independence it affords them, many also simply find it surplus to requirements.
For others it is the flexibility and security that communal, rented properties bring. With just one months notice residents are free to leave the Hawthorns, useful when your circumstances change at short notice. Our receptionists, concierge, and secure premises ensure that your safety is always a priority.
Our locations are chosen for the access they provide to both local amenities such as shops, banks, doctors and clubs, as well as to some of the countries most beautiful countryside and coastline.
Lastly, and by no means least, our residencies are also fun! We are a retirement community of people with strong attachments to our localities, places where friendships flourish in an atmosphere that is more like a ‘club house’ for the retired. Whether it is trips out for Sunday roast, enjoying with other residents a three course lunch with wine in our restaurant, a group walk in the countryside or one of our many social engagements, there is much to immerse yourself in and of course, at the end of the day you can do as much or as little as you wish.
Be part of something special, share in our community and live life to the full at a Hawthorns retirement community.

“A Community of Like Minded Individuals”
An enthusiasm for life, living well and an appreciation of the companionship of others, these values typify each of our Hawthorns retirement communities where life is yours to live. At each of our locations you will find people who share much in common and enjoy the clubs and society’s we run as well as the flexibility and independence that rented apartments bring. Equally you will also find that Hawthorns is about finding your own balance, with moments and spaces dedicated to peace and quiet, relaxation, hobbies or just pottering around in the garden. Different strokes for different folks as they say but our communities take strength from the variety of people we attract.
Our residencies are designed with our public and private spaces in mind, you don’t have to retreat to your apartment for privacy, although we all need that from time to time, our communal rooms and gardens are always busy places, full of life, friends, family and residents who enjoy the buzz of feeling part of something bigger, something tangible.
At Hawthorns there is always something in which to involve yourself; from crafting, singing, dancing, learning (because you are never too old) and exercising.
