Managing Director’s Award for Alex Philips

Alex Philips, Night Concierge, has received the coveted Managing Director’s Award after he proved to be the hero of the hour at The Hawthorns Eastbourne when an attempted break-in was in progress. The aggressive would-be intruder tried to gain access into the building, first kicking and punching the main entrance doors and, when this failed, used a bench and heavy plant pots to smash his way through.

Alex stood his ground to stop the intruder gaining entry; the police were called and arrested the trespasser. Considerable damage was caused to the main doors, but thanks to Alex’s quick actions and bravery, the intruder failed to gain entry and the 136 residents and staff remained safe.

Alex remained calm and focused under pressure, but was very touched when he was presented with the MD Award in August, which was richly deserved for his heroic actions.
