Why buy when you can rent

“It's lovely not having to worry about paying the bills or doing any housework. I came here and it's all provided for me, I have not got to worry about getting to the shops - although I could go every morning (on the private coach) if I wanted to. The only thing I have to pay is my private telephone bill.”

Scotland comes to Braintree for one night only

A LITTLE piece of Scotland will be coming to Braintree on Friday (Jan 25) when a retirement development hosts a Burns Night supper.

The event at The Hawthorns at Meadow Park will have an added touch of authenticity as manager, Gordon Swan, hails from the Scottish Borders.

The evening will include the traditional piping in of the haggis, a demonstration of Scottish dancing, the reading of some Robbie Burns poetry and a three-course meal prepared by Head Chef, Chas Beseley.

Guests are being invited to the event with tickets, priced £15, available by telephoning 01376 335500.

Gordon said: “As a proud Scotsman, this is undoubtedly one of the best nights of the year! We did something similar last year and it was a huge success. The residents really get into the spirit of the evening.”

The Hawthorns offers residents a unique retirement lifestyle, luxury all-inclusive apartments covered by one fixed monthly rental fee.
