A life on the ocean wave

A GROUP of Hawthorns residents swapped the luxury of their daily lifestyle for a life on the ocean wave aboard a luxurious cruise ship.

Residents were joined by invited guests aboard the Ruby on a four-day Saga cruise which departed from Southampton, taking in Guernsey, Zeebrugge and Amsterdam before returning to Dover.

“We are offering all new residents who reserve during September and October and move in by the end of November a free luxury cruise departing next June. They can take a friend or family member along as well for free.

Some of those enjoying the trip were residents taking advantage of a special incentive for newly arrived residents while others took advantage of a specially discounted rate negotiated by The Hawthorns.

Keeping the travelling party in order was Geraldine Channon, Events Co-ordinator at Braintree, who said everyone had an absolutely fabulous time.

“Although we were well away from home, the cruise really was a reflection of what being at The Hawthorns is all about: freedom, fun, care-free and an opportunity to meet new friends. You could do as little or as much as you wished. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the cruise,” said Geraldine.

Among those enjoying life on the ocean wave were Brian and Audrey Hennessey from Braintree. “Since we moved to The Hawthorns, we couldn’t have been happier. We’ve made a whole new circle of friends, the staff are wonderful and it’s lovely having everything done for you.

“This cruise has been the icing on the cake. With all that food available on the ship, we returned heavier but very contented with some wonderful memories.”
