I started working for The Hawthorns at the age of sixteen as a restaurant server, later moving into housekeeping. My passion for hospitality led me to Newcastle Upon Tyne, where I gained experience in the hotel industry, working at the Malmaison Hotel, Copthorne Hotel, and Royal Station Hotel, eventually becoming Head Housekeeper.
After taking a gap year travelling around Europe with Paul, I returned to The Hawthorns in Clevedon, where Paul and I both worked before relocating to Braintree in 2012. We quickly became part of the community, and in July 2025, we celebrated ten years as General Managers.
I’m proud to help create a warm, welcoming environment where residents feel truly at home. In my spare time, I enjoy running, scuba diving, and supporting Newcastle United.
My career began in the motor trade, where I worked my way up to diagnostic technician with Mazda. I later moved into education, lecturing in light motor vehicle studies at Gateshead College. After taking a gap year travelling around Europe with Sandra, we returned to Clevedon and began picking up bank shifts at The Hawthorns.
I worked across various departments including kitchen, maintenance, housekeeping, administration, and relief management. That hands-on experience made me realise this was a career I truly wanted to pursue. Although we briefly considered working at a Hawthorns facility in the U.S., an opportunity came up in Braintree – and we knew it was the right move.
We arrived in 2012 and, in July 2025, Sandra and I proudly celebrated ten years in the role of General Manager. Outside of work, I enjoy running, scuba diving, and supporting Newcastle United.
