On 24th November 2024, a devastating flood turned one family’s life upside down. Peter and Jo’s home was badly affected, with the house needing to be stripped out and reinstated, they faced the daunting task of finding temporary accommodation that would welcome both them and their dog, Lily. The added stress of navigating a difficult insurance company made the situation even more challenging.
After searching for furnished rentals in the area with no success, the couple discovered the Hawthorns. They met with Customer Services Manager, Siobhan Cooper, whose kindness and support immediately put them at ease. During this visit, they discovered a charming coincidence: their granddaughter and Sarah-Lou, the General Manager’s daughter, had both gone to The Northamptonshire School of Dance and were friends. This connection led to further conversations and by 31st December, the family had moved into a beautiful two-bedroom apartment at the Hawthorns.
From the moment they arrived, Peter and Jo were impressed by the warmth and friendliness of the staff. Their dog Lily quickly settled in and even enjoyed a small lawn right outside the patio, which was perfect for stretching her legs. The calm and welcoming environment allowed the couple to relax, regroup, and confidently address their insurance matters.
What was intended as a temporary stay turned into an eight-month experience filled with comfort and community. The Hawthorns staff, including restaurant servers, cleaners, and management, were consistently supportive and approachable. The family also formed meaningful friendships with fellow residents, adding to the sense of belonging.
Life at the Hawthorns offered a variety of engaging activities. Peter enjoyed home brewing sessions and indoor curling, while Jo took pleasure in the singing for pleasure classes. Live music performances provided entertainment, and a piano in the reception area allowed personal moments of joy. Art classes and other learning opportunities were abundant, catering to both beginners and those seeking to refine their skills.
Their dog, Lily, thrived in her new environment. Showered with attention from residents, she joyfully greeted her friends daily and quickly became a beloved part of the community.
After eight months at the Hawthorns, the family reflected on their stay as a worry-free and restorative period. From the supportive staff to the engaging activities and the welcoming atmosphere, the Hawthorns provided an oasis of calm during a time of upheaval.
