Why buy when you can rent

“My aunt loves her apartment, which is really bright and sunny. The quality of life here is tremendous. She has made a number of friends and very much enjoys the social aspect. It is perfect for her.”

Free cruise offered to unsung hero

RESIDENTS moving into an Eastbourne retirement development during the next two months can look forward to an unexpected bonus in the form of a free cruise – and two lucky local residents will be joining them.

The Hawthorns in Carew Road is pushing the boat out with its offer to new residents but also wants to reward a local person whose dedication to helping the Eastbourne community should be recognised.

Angie Peach, Manager at The Hawthorns, where residents are offered a unique retirement lifestyle akin to a luxury, apartment-style experience covered by one simple, all-inclusive monthly rental, explained what is on offer.

“We are offering all new residents who reserve during September and October and move in by the end of November a free luxury cruise departing next June. They can take a friend or family member along as well for free.

“We’d also like to reserve two places for a person and friend out there in the wider community who dedicates much of their time to others. People can nominate themselves or others can nominate someone they know who they think deserves a special break. It’s our way of recognising an unsung hero out there whose work might otherwise go largely unnoticed. The winner will need to be aged 55 or over and their travelling companion at least 45”

A judging panel comprising residents and members of the management team at The Hawthorns will go through all the nominations before selecting the winner.

The four-day Saga cruise aboard the luxurious Ruby will depart from Southampton, taking in Guernsey, Zeebrugge and Amsterdam before returning to Dover. Transport to and from the ship will be provided.

Nominations for the unsung hero place can be sent to Angie Peach, The Hawthorns, 4 Carew Road, Eastbourne, BN21 2BF or emailed to This email address is being protected from spambots. Closing date for entries is October 31 2011. Further details of the cruise offer can be obtained by calling 01323 640088.
