Hawthorns Lights Up for Charity Shopping Boutique

The annual Hawthorns Christmas shopping boutique was a sparkling event, attended by over 200 people and raising £840 for the Clevedon new hospital fund.

Amanda Parsons, organiser of the boutique said, "Despite the wintry weather which sadly meant that Daphne Fowler, the BBC2 Egghead was snowed in and couldn't join us, the boutique was a brilliant success.

"Happily, Daphne has agreed to come back in the New Year so fans need not be disappointed. If anyone wants to come and meet her, we will be organising a special event in the Spring.

"Our thanks go to Barclays Bank for matching what we raised to make a really good contribution to our charity fund."

The Hawthorns chefs served up 250 home made mince pies, 300 home made cookies and 200 slices of stollen. The Hawthorns foyer was lit up with a huge 10-foot-tall Christmas tree and balcony Christmas decorations, featuring around 5,000 fairy lights.

The 29 stallholders did a roaring trade with gifts ranging from hand-carved wooden gifts, jewellery and Christmas preserves to Belgian chocolates and watercolours.
