Why buy when you can rent

“It's a wonderful way of life. With so much taken care of, my partner and I are free to enjoy our lives to the full and that's exactly what we do. I can't think of anywhere I would rather live.”

Cream-tea offer to charities

Cream tea offer for charities

CHARITIES in the Braintree area might feel like the cat that's stolen the cream – well, the cream-tea to be precise – thanks to a generous offer from a local retirement complex.

The Hawthorns at Meadow Park, Braintree, is offering to host afternoon cream-tea events so charities can create awareness of, and funds for, their charity.

Paul Tripney, Manager at The Hawthorns, said: "Charities probably don't need me to tell them that these are challenging times for charities, with more and more very worthy causes seeking contributions from increasingly stretched personal budgets. Well, we'd like to do our small bit to try and help them.

"We are a retirement complex with a big difference – our residents are an active bunch, both physically and mentally, who still very much like to (and expect to!) enjoy life to the full. We like to ensue The Hawthorns is a lively place at all times and we like to involve ourselves heavily with the local community.

"With this in mind, we are offering our venue to charities. We are not only supplying our large, luxuriously appointed dining room but also the cream-teas and the staff to serve them. All we would ask of the charity is to take responsibility for promoting the event, sell tickets and perhaps organise a raffle."

Any charity interested can phone Paul on 01376 335500.
