Motorcycle club, Capital Wings, revved up Sunday entertainment at The Hawthorns Braintree in May.

Capital Wings group, a part of The Goldwings Owners Club of Great Britain, drove 18 bikes from London to the doorstep of The Hawthorns, in Meadow Park, Braintree, for afternoon tea. The event was organised by The Hawthorns bus driver, Joe Sene, 59, who has been a member of the Capital Wings club for more than 22 years.

Jacquie Baines lives at The Hawthorns with her husband David, and is a regular participant in the many events and activities offered. Jacquie said, "The sound of the bikes arriving were incredible as they were so quiet. I took advantage of the opportunity and had a sit on one of them. The range of activities and events offered here are terrific, with this bike club visit being a great example, whether coming in to us or when we go out in The Hawthorns own private transport. The lifestyle here is stimulating and involving and we are both very happy."

Resident of The Hawthorns for five years, Audrey Hennessey, was accompanied by three generations of her family. Audrey said, "I had a pillion passenger ride on both a bike and a trike around Braintree which was wonderful; my little great grandson James loved the sound and the look of the bikes and the rest of the family had a lovely time too".

Manager of The Hawthorns Braintree, Sandra Tripney, commented: "Residents were whisked away for thrilling rides around Braintree. It was a great spectacle to have eighteen machines dominating the car park at the front of the building, and a terrific day for everyone. The bikers made short work of all of our home made cakes and biscuits at tea time!"
