Kicking the generation gap into touch

AN Eastbourne retirement development has kicked the generation gap into touch by sponsoring a local youth football team.

The Hawthorns, in Carew Road, has sponsored the football kit for the Hailsham United Junior Football Club Under-10s team and on Saturday (June 22) members of the team visited The Hawthorns to show off their footballing skills to residents before enjoying freshly-made smoothies and home-baked cookies.

Peter Smith, joint-manager of the Under-10s team, said: “The youngsters have been in need of a new kit for some time now, so everyone is delighted that The Hawthorns has stepped in to sponsor us. The lads look very smart and are already looking forward to next season so they can show off their new kit.”

Kiki Grigat, Manager at The Hawthorns, said: “Whilst members of this team are some way off contemplating an idyllic lifestyle with us, The Hawthorns really enjoys being part of the community and supporting projects and charities that involve all age groups.
