Charities offered free showcasing opportunity

CHARITIES are being offered the opportunity to showcase their cause and raise funds at the same time courtesy of an Eastbourne retirement complex.

The Hawthorns in Carew Road is inviting charities, to attend a charity fete at the complex on Saturday July 20.

June Biscoe, Events Co-ordinator at The Hawthorns, where residents are offered a unique all-inclusive retirement lifestyle covered by one simple monthly rental, said: “These are challenging times for charities. As an integral part of the local community, we want to do everything we can to help organisations that do so much to help others.

“There is no cost involved but any group participating should bring their own table to set up in our parking area after 12noon on the day. As in previous years, the Eastbourne Silver Band will be playing and we will be offering various games, raffle and cream teas, proceeds from which will be donated to one of the participating charities chosen by our residents.”

Any charity wishing to take part should contact June on 01323 640088 by the end of May.

The Hawthorns hosts a number of charitable functions throughout the year and also hosts meetings of local groups of the University of the Third Age.
