St Patricks day celebrations at the Hawthorns

Residents and guests at the Hawthorns Retirement complex in Clevedon will be celebrating the luck of the Irish on St Patrick’s Day on 17th March 2013. Residents and guests will be invited to dress in green for an evening of Irish entertainment including poetry and Irish dancing.

Proceedings start at 5.45pm with an Irish fiddler followed by supper with an Irish themed menu at 6pm. At 7.30pm The Bartlett School of Irish Dance will perform Irish Dancing in the Foyer. Residents will also be taking part in a Blarney Stone competition. Contestants will come on stage and ‘Kiss the Blarney Stone,’ and read out their limerick, ditty or short poem.

Goldie Tripney, Facility Manager at the Hawthorns says:

“According to legend, kissing the Blarney Stone endows the kisser with the gift of the gab. So we thought we would challenge our residents and guests to see who has the greatest gift of the gab as part of our St Patrick’s Day celebrations. “
